The Art of Bourbon - Live Painting in Kentucky
Have you heard of Bardstown, Kentucky? If not, I’m guessing you aren’t a bourbon fanatic. The small town, located 45 minutes south of Louisville, happens to be the Bourbon Capital of the World. I visited September 13-15 for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, in partnership with RD1 Spirits. The Lexington-based distillery wanted to deliver an unforgettable experience for attendees and brought me in to paint live during the three day event as part of “The Art of Bourbon” campaign.
I got a head start on two original 24”x36” paintings in my studio, one of a horse race in Lexington and another of the festival grounds in front of the Oscar Getz Museum of Bourbon History. The paintings were finished on-site in front of thousands of bourbon lovers from all over the world and then raffled off to two lucky winners. The interactions I had over the three days were a reminder of why I am an artist - I love sharing my passion and process with others and seeing the emotions the different subjects evoke.
Although the original paintings found new homes through the raffle, I’m excited to share that prints of both pieces, "Kentucky Bourbon Festival" and "The Home Stretch in Lexington" are now available for purchase on my website.
These prints capture the spirit of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival and the beauty of Bardstown, making them a perfect keepsake for bourbon enthusiasts and art lovers alike. Whether you’re drawn to the energy of the horse race or the charm of the festival grounds, each print invites you to experience a little slice of bourbon country.
